Mardi Himal Trek also recognized as a Mardi peak trek is a short but scenic trip located in Annapurna Himalayas of Nepal. Mardi himal trek can be done within 5 to 8 days which depend upon your time bound.

Mardi Himal Trek covers some of the breathtaking glacial valleys, hidden landscape and pristine cultures and tradition of Gurung ethnic group of Annapurna. Mardi Himal Trek is new promoted and uncrowded trek can be done as a lodge trek recently.

The trek goes through the miraculous rhododendron forest at the initial portion and eventually, the setting turns on the rugged trail dominated by the hard rock formation.Mardi Himal Trek route is harsh and slippery to slogging ahead till the Mardi Himal base camp. This trekking is mainly exploring the local people lifestyle and enjoy with local product.

Mardi Himal Trek detail itinerary

Day 1: Arrival day Kathmandu

Receive you in Kathmandu international airport. Then transfer to hotel by private car. If you have time, just couple of hrs time sightseeing around downtown Thamel.

Day 2 Fly to Pokhara. Trek to Deurali (2100m/6,867ft), 5 hrs

At morning, drive to airport to get scenic fly to Pokhara. Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara (takes about 25 minute) gives you an opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking views of mountains such as Annapurna and Langtang and landscape flying to north over the snow capped Himalaya and green Mahabharat range to the south is adventurous. Meet the entire team here, than drive almost 45 minutes to reach on Dhampus Phedi by private car. Then the trek ascend all the way up to Dhampus with several stone stairs passing through terraced cultivated fields, settlements and forests. Dhampus and Pothana village offers an excellent view of Annapurna range and Mt. Fishtail. The trail takes another 1 hour climbs through the rhododendron forest to a pass with views of the Mardi Khola far below and the panoramic views of Annapurna South and Hiun Chuli to the north, and Pokhara and Phewa Lake to the southeast when we will reach Deurali. Stay overnight here at guest house.

Day 3 Deurali to Forest camp (2500m/8,175ft), 6 hours

On the way from Deurali to Forest camp, you will have easy walk through the Pine Forest trail which is again steep ascend hills. The Forest is covered with the most unique flower called Rhododendron. You have to take the packed lunch today as there are not any tea houses or restaurants or hotels on the way to Forest camp.

Day 4 Forest Camp to High Camp (3,550m/11,609ft) 4 hours

Trek to Low Camp where you can see the most amazing and clear view of Mt. Fishtail. Between the journey of Low camp and High Camp there is a hill station to explore the Himalayas like Annapurna south, Hiun chuli, Chhomrong Village, Ghandruk Village, Mt.Fishtail, Annapurna region, flora and fauna, beautiful village view, alpine forest, Gurung and Thakali cultures. We ascend upwards again to High Camp (3550m) where you will be staying overnight at lodge.

Day 5 Discovering day in High Camp (3550m/11,609ft)

After breakfast at High camp, we leave taking our packed lunch. We hike to Mardi Base Camp (4500m) so almost whole day you will be hike around to discover passing through series of steep, rocky climbs separated by leisurely walk through lush green hills and High Mountain. Enjoy your packed lunch with an excellent view of Mardi peak (Himal we call it in Nepali language), Annapurna-I, South Annapurna, Hiunchuli, Ten Peak, Gangapurna and Gandarbhachuli, Mt.Fishtail at side and descend to high camp and stay overnight there.

Day 6 High Camp to Sidding (1700m/5,559ft), 6 hours

Have a breakfast with the brilliant Sunrise view at High camp and descend towards Sidding village. Walking back straight descend to the same fine forest you can again see the beautiful red Rhododendron forest. You will get your lunch at Low camp which is at the way back to Sidding(1700m). Sidding is a traditional but simple local village. Have in mind, if you do not have enough time to explore trekking continue than you can skip rest of the part and take a express jeep to Pokhara fea lake side.

Day 7 Siddin to Lwong (1460m/4,774ft), 6 hours

Today is an easy trek getting Lwong village. During the journey, you can pass tiny Ghalel village, Ghalel is the a small traditional villages with some small restaurants and Home stay, so you can have a lunch here. After lunch again start up walking towards Lwong. Lwong is also a traditional old village where you can see tea garden, Annapurna Conservation Projects office and home stay. You can stay over night there in a local home and in the evening community mother group will welcome you by singing and dancing in some folk songs.

Day 8 Lwong to Astam (1530m/5,003ft) 5hrs

At morning time, a little excursion to Tea garden to explore the brilliant view of green tea garden and also the view of mountains. Return at lodge to collect your bag packs, have a breakfast then walk towards to Astam village in few hours. From Astam you can view many of the peaks like Annapurna Range, Mt.Fishtail, Lamjung Himal. Stay overnight at there.

Day 9 Astam – Melbot (almost 3hrs) to Pokhara city 45 min. drive

Early morning view the most amazing sunrise at Astam Village. Walk towards the Melbot where our private vehicle is waiting for you to drop off in Fewa lake side Pokhara. On your way back to Pokhara, you will cross milk river which is known as Seti river in Nepali. As soon as you reach in town, you can visit some of the most beautiful landmarks of Pokhara city or go for shopping where you can enjoy your moment.

Day 10 Explore day around Pokhara valley: Full day sightseeing

After late breakfast, we start our sightseeing to explore Pokhara city. The worth able places such as Fewa Lake, Devi’s Fall, Bishwa Shanti Stupa (World Peace Stupa) or Seti George, International Mountain Museum, Tibetan refugee settlement and Gupteshower Cave. Rest of the time, you can either take a relax at our hotel or visit the markets for shopping. Overnight at hotel

Day 11 Fly / or drive to Kathmandu. Or extend your trip on request.

We will drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus through the road passing terraces, streams, rivers, local settlements, high hills and along the river side. If you are interested to fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu with extra cost (USD: 99 each person) for fly ticket. 20 minutes flight journey offers an spectacular of Annapurna Himalayas inclusive Mt. Fishtail, Dhaulagiri and Manaslu, high hills, terraces, local settlements, and forests.

Day 12Final departure day

Drop you in Kathmandu International Airport onward your final destination and our trip ends. Wish you your wonderful journey.

Equipment checklist

The following listed equipment is suggested and essential for Tea house trekking and camping trekking in the Nepal Himalaya. Make sure that below list as a guideline proposal. Some of the Trekking equipment can be hired or bought in the many adventure shops in Kathmandu.

The following basic equipment checklists should help you with your packing. Please remember that you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. At the start of the trek your packed trek bag should weigh not more than 33 pounds or 15 kg.


  • Sun hat or scarf
  • Light balaclava or warm fleece hat
  • Sunglasses with UV protection

Upper Body:
