Langtang trek or Langtang trekking begins after a long drive from Kathmandu Syabrubensi. During the Langtang trek you will pass through the forests and along with the Sherpa villages and farmlands of the people. Many villagers are originally from Tibet over the last centuries. Once this route was an important trading route with Tibet, therefore, most of the villagers and peoples here still are involved in trade. Cherku-ri (5,150m) / Tcheurkuri hill station is known as the best view point of Langtang trek offers an excellent view of Langtang Lirung (7246m/23,694 ft), Gang Chhenpo (6388m/20,889 ft), Naya Kangri (5846m/19,116 ft), Dorje Lakpa (6966m/22,779 ft), Yala peak (5732m/18,744ft), Nayakang peak(5844m/19,110ft) & several other snow capped Mountains within a range.
As langtang trek pass through the beautiful Langtang National Park, we may have chance to see some wild animals such as monkeys, musk deer, Pika and the national bird of Nepal, the colorful Daphne and as well as various types of birds and butterflies. Itinerary

Langtang Trek detail itinerary

Day 1Arrival day Kathmandu

Receive you in Kathmandu international airport. Then transfer to hotel by private car. If you have time, just couple of hrs time sightseeing around downtown Thamel.

Day 2 Drive to Syabrubensi (1,420m/4,643ft), 8-9 hrs drive.

Lunch at Trishuli this morning we’ll drive on a northern highway that twists and climbs over mountain ridges to the Trishuli valley for lunch and on to Syabru village for the overnight. The journey will take 8-9 hours through picturesque landscapes, mountain scenery and local villages. From Syabru we’ll have magnificent views of Mt. Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Mt Kerung of Tibet. We’ll relax tonight at a local Guest house.

Day 3 Trek to Lama Hotel (2340m/7,652ft), 5-6 hrs

After breakfast we start to walk own our pace and the trail ascends for around two hours through the forest followed by a climb of about an hour to reach Bamboo village (1,850m) where we’ll stop for lunch. This forested path with well stabilized trails and following the upstream and can be seen birds life around the bushes. Bee hives hanging on a cliff are another attraction for the visitors. From here we’ll again steeply climb through the bamboo forest to reach the Lama Hotel where we’ll rest and overnight at a local guest house.

Day 4 Trek to Langtang village (3,480m/11,380ft), 6 hrs

Today we’ll have a pleasant walk and follow the trail through rhododendron and pine forest for around three hours to reach Ghora Tabela where we’ll stop for lunch. This surrounding area dense wild habitat area and many small babblers with lot of herbal can be found here. After lunch we’ll walk another three hours on the scenic trail takes us to Langtang village where we’ll relax for the evening.

Day 5 Trek to Kyanjing Gompa (3,850m/12,590ft), 3 hours.

After breakfast this morning we’ll leave the village and start our trek leisurely for around three to four hours to visit Kyanjing Gompa. From here we’ll also have beautiful views of Mt Ganchempo and Langtang Lirung. We’ll visit surrounding area like Yak cheese Factory, Monastery and local houses as we relax for the evening at Guest house.

Day 6 Hike to Kyangin Ridge and descend to Kyangin Gompa.

Today you may have full day of rest and relaxation at the surrounding area. We’ll be able to simply relax and enjoy the views or to explore the local area or visit some highlights of Cherku-ri or Tschurkuri peak (5,150m), glacier walk or Langshisha kharka depends on your fitness and interest. Cherku-ri (5,150m) is known as the best view point of this area which offers a spectacular view of tallest mountains such as Langtang Lirung 7246m/23,694ft, Gang Chhenpo 6388m/20,889ft, Naya Kangri 5846m/19,116ft, Dorje Lakpa 6966m/22,779ft , Yala peak (5732m/18,744ft), Nayakang peak(5844m/19,110ft) & several other boarder mountains. Overnight stay in guest house in Kyangin gomba.

Day 7 Trek back to Rimche hill (2350m/7,685ft), 8 hrs.

This morning we’ll retrace our steps somewhat as we head back from the Gompa. We have an easy downhill and pleasant walk through the rhododendron forest to Lama Hotel where we’ll rest for the night before continuing our journey tomorrow for the Thulo Syabru village.

Day 8 Trek to Thulo Syabru: (1,900m/6,213ft), 5-6 hrs

Today our trail leads again through bamboo & rhododendron forest where we may see the local wild boar as well as other animal and bird life on the route to Thulo Syabru. En route we’ll have marvelous views of Mt Ganesh Himal, so close it seems like it’s beside us. Firstly easy downhill follows the river bank but last part steeply uphill for couple of hours to get to the village.

Day 9 Trek to Dhunche (1650m/5,396ft), 4-5 hrs

This morning after breakfast we’ll be ready for trek onwards to Dhunche. This is quite pleasant walk through the forested path and some old Tamang village’s takes to get 4-5 hrs. After arrival in Dhunche, rest of the time explores the town which is headquarters of Rasuwa district. This will be your last night with your trekking crew except trekking Guide. Trekking crew will organize a farewell ceremony, Nepali song and dance, staff members will be allowed to drink to join the party. You may want to try local drink called “Rakshi”, please be aware; it does not taste good and is very strong.

Day 10 Return to Kathmandu city.

After breakfast, you can take a bus or private jeep (paying on extra cost) back to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel.

Day 11 Departure day or request to extend your holidays.

After breakfast, we drop you to the international airport for your return flight however if you have some days time, you might request us to extend your holidays.

Equipment checklist

The following listed equipment is suggested and essential for Tea house trekking and camping trekking in the Nepal Himalaya. Make sure that below list as a guideline proposal. Some of the Trekking equipment can be hired or bought in the many adventure shops in Kathmandu. The following basic equipment check lists should help you with your packing. Please remember that you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. At the start of the trek your packed trek bag should weigh not more than 33 pounds or 15 kg.

Head:

  • Sun hat or scarf
  • Light balaclava or warm fleece hat
  • Sunglasses with UV protection

Upper Body:

  • T-shirts (2)
  • Light and expedition weight thermal tops
