Ganjala pass trekking begins after a long drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubensi. langtang Ganjala pass trekking you ascend through the forests and along with the Sherpa villages and farmlands of the people. Many villagers are originally from Tibet over the last centuries. Once this route was an important trade route with Tibet, therefore, most people here still are involved in trade. As Ganjala pass via langtang trek goes through the beautiful Langtang National Park, we may have chance to see some wild animals such as monkeys, musk deer, Pika and the national bird of Nepal, the colorful Daphne and as well as various types of birds and butterflies. The last station of langtang trek is Kyangjin Gompa (3,740m) where you see a Yala Cheese Factory. While we visit Yala Cheese Factory, we can see a view of small lakes beyond Yala, where we reach within half a day walk from Kyangjin Gompa.

Itinerary

Ganjala pass trekking detail itinerary

Day 1Arrival day Kathmandu

Receive you in Kathmandu international airport. Then transfer to hotel by private car. If you have time, just couple of hrs time sightseeing around downtown Thamel.

Day 2 Drive to Syabrubensi (1,420m/4,643ft), 8-9 hrs drive.

Lunch at Trishuli this morning we’ll drive on a northern highway that twists and climbs over mountain ridges to the Trishuli valley for lunch and on to Syabru village for the overnight. The journey will take 8-9 hours through picturesque landscapes, mountain scenery and local villages. From Syabru we’ll have magnificent views of Mt. Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Mt Kerung of Tibet. We’ll relax tonight at a local Guest house.

Day 3 Trek to Lama Hotel (2340m/7,652ft), 5-6 hrs

After breakfast we start to walk own our pace and the trail ascends for around two hours through the forest followed by a climb of about an hour to reach Bamboo village (1,850m/6,050ft) where we’ll stop for lunch. This forested path with well stabilized trails and following the upstream and can be seen birds life around the bushes. Bee hives hanging on a cliff are another attraction for the visitors. From here we’ll again steeply climb through the bamboo forest to reach the Lama Hotel where we’ll rest and overnight at a local Guest house.

Day 4 Trek to Langtang village (3,480m/11,380ft), 6 hrs

Today we’ll have a pleasant walk and follow the trail through rhododendron and pine forest for around three hours to reach Ghora Tabela where we’ll stop for lunch. This surrounding area dense wild habitat area and many small babblers with lot of herbal can be found here. After lunch we’ll walk another three hours on the scenic trail takes us to Langtang village where we’ll relax for the evening.

Day 5 Trek to Kyanjing Gompa(3,850m/12,590ft), 3 hours.

After breakfast this morning we’ll leave the village and start our trek leisurely for around three to four hours to visit Kyanjing Gompa. From here we’ll also have beautiful views of Mt Ganchempo and Langtang Lirung. We’ll visit surrounding area like Yak cheese Factory, Monastery and local houses as we relax for the evening at Guest house.

Day 6 Hike to Kyangin Ridge and descend to Kyangin Gompa.

Today you may have full day of rest and relaxation at the surrounding area. We’ll be able to simply relax and enjoy the views or to explore the local area or visit some highlights of Cherku-ri or Tschurkuri peak (5,150m/16,841ft), glacier walk or Langshisha kharka depends on your fitness. Cherku-ri is known as the best view point of this area which offers a spectacular view of tallest mountains such as Langtang Lirung 7246m/23,694ft, Gang Chhenpo 6388m/20,889ft, Naya Kangri 5846m/19,116ft, Dorje Lakpa 6966m/22,779ft , Yala peak (5732m/18,744ft), Nayakang peak(5844m/19,110ft) & several other boarder mountains. Overnight stay in guest house in Kyangin gomba.

Day 7 Kyanjing Gompa to Negang(4000m/13,080ft), 5:30 hrs.

As you trek today from from Kyanjing Gompa to Ngegang(4000m), you can not see any villages. The trail goes on ascending and area is covered with little natural vegetation. Since there are not available any lodge, you need to fix your camp to stay overnight.

Day 8 Trek from Ngegang to Keldang (5106m/16,697ft), 5 hrs

Trek Ngegang to Keldang (5106m.) via Ganja La (5100m/16,677ft.) This day is comparatively strenuous as you need to cross the Ganja la pass. On the Ganja la pass, you can find it covered with snowy ice most of the times throughout the year. You need to camp.

Day 9 Trek from Keldang To Dukpu(4080m/13,342ft), 6 hrs trek.

Trek Keldang to Dukpu(4080m.) Your camping site will be inside the forest. This day will be long day walking along ridge, grassland, very silent, amazing views of Mountains.

Day 10 Trek from Dukpu to Tarkegyang (2740m/8,960ft), 4 hours.

Today trek descend downhill walking but roughly about 200 mtrs than ascend around 4100m to get pass where you can experience the spectacular view of Annapurna Region and Mt. Everest region too. As soon as you get summit than trail descends down hill through pine trees, rhododendron forest past tiny settlement to Tarkeghyang. You can visit one of the oldest Buddhist monastery and Sherpa villages. These villages are well settled where friendly and cheerful nature people inhabit.

Day 11 Tarkeghyang to Kakani via Shermanthang (2621m/8,571ft), 5 hrs trek.

The trail today, you will find the trail is relatively easy following flat ground and through beautiful forests. Shermanthang is another pretty village with ancient monasteries, from the northern end of the village you will see views of Jugal Himal. You need to walk roughly about 2 hours passing many Chortens and meadows, you eventually reach at Kakani village, the last Sherpa village.

Day 12 Trek to Melamchi Pul Bazzar(846m/2,766ft) 2hrs. Return to Kathmandu

You are now entering the lowlands where Brahmin and Cheetri are the dominant tribes The trail descends from here to Melamchi Pul. As you arrive here, you will have delicious Lunch and then drive all the way back to Kathmandu which will takes roughly about 5 hours to get Thamel. You will be taken to your hotel on arrival in Kathmandu.

Day 13 Departure day or request to extend your holidays.

After breakfast, we drop you to the international airport for your return flight however if you have some days time, you might request us to extend your holidays.

Equipment checklist

The following listed equipment is suggested and essential for Tea house trekking and camping trekking in the Nepal Himalaya. Make sure that below list as a guideline proposal. Some of the Trekking equipment can be hired or bought in the many adventure shops in Kathmandu. The following basic equipment check lists should help you with your packing. Please remember that you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. At the start of the trek your packed trek bag should weigh not more than 33 pounds or 15 kg.

Head:
