Gosaikunda Helambu Trek is beautiful trekking in Nepal through forests, beautiful villages, wildlife and astounding views of the majestic mountains.Many villagers are originally from Tibet over the last centuries.

Once this route was an important trading route with Tibet, therefore, most of the villagers and peoples here still are involved in the trade. Tserku-ri (5,150m) hill station is known as the best viewpoint of Langtang trek offers an excellent view of Langtang Lirung (7246m/23,694 ft), Gang Chhenpo (6388m/20,889 ft), Naya Kangri (5846m/19,116 ft), Dorje Lakpa (6966m/22,779 ft), Yala peak (5732m/18,744ft), Nayakang peak(5844m/19,110ft) & several other snow-capped Mountains in a range.

Gosaikunda Helambu Trek detail itinerary

Day 1Arrival day Kathmandu

Receive you in Kathmandu international airport. Then transfer to hotel by private car. If you have time, just couple of hrs time sightseeing around downtown Thamel.

Day 2 Drive to Syabrubensi (1,420m/4,643ft), 8-9 hrs drive.

Lunch at Trishuli this morning we’ll drive on a northern highway that twists and climbs over mountain ridges to the Trishuli valley for lunch and on to Syabru village for the overnight. The journey will take 8-9 hours through picturesque landscapes, mountain scenery and local villages. From Syabru we’ll have magnificent views of Mt. Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Mt Kerung of Tibet. We’ll relax tonight at a local Guest house.

Day 3 Trek to Lama Hotel (2340m/7,652ft), 5-6 hrs

After breakfast we start to walk own our pace and the trail ascends for around two hours through the forest followed by a climb of about an hour to reach Bamboo village (1,850m) where we’ll stop for lunch. This forested path with well-stabilized trails and following the upstream and can be seen birds life around the bushes. Bee hives hanging on a cliff are another attraction for the visitors. From here we’ll again steeply climb through the bamboo forest to reach the Lama Hotel where we’ll rest and overnight at a local Guest house.

Day 4 Trek to Langtang village (3,480m/11,380ft), 6 hrs

Today we’ll have a pleasant walk and follow the trail through rhododendron and pine forest for around three hours to reach Ghora Tabela where we’ll stop for lunch. This surrounding area dense wild habitat area and many small babblers with a lot of herbals can be found here. After lunch we’ll walk another three hours on the scenic trail takes us to Langtang village where we’ll relax for the evening.

Day 5 Trek to Kyanjing Gompa(3,850m/12,590ft), 3 hours.

After breakfast this morning we’ll leave the village and start our trek leisurely for around three to four hours to visit Kyanjing Gompa. From here we’ll also have beautiful views of Mt Ganchempo and Langtang Lirung. We’ll visit the surrounding area like Yak cheese Factory, Monastery and local houses as we relax for the evening at Guest house.

Day 6 Hike to Kyangin Ridge and descend to Kyangin Gompa.

Today you may have full day of rest and relaxation at the surrounding area. We’ll be able to simply relax and enjoy the views or to explore the local area or visit some highlights of Cherku-ri or Tschurkuri peak (5,150m/16,841ft), glacier walk or Langshisha kharka depends on your fitness and interest. Cherku-ri is known as the best view point of this area which offers a spectacular view of tallest mountains such as Langtang Lirung (7,246m/23,694ft), Gang Chhenpo (6,388m/20,889ft), Naya Kangri (5,846m/19,116ft), Dorje Lakpa (6,966m/22,779ft), Yala peak (5,732m/18,744ft), Nayakang peak (5,844m/19,110ft) & several other boarder mountains. Overnight stay in guest house in Kyangin gomba.

Day 7 Trek back to Rimche hill (2350m/7,685ft), 8 hrs.

This morning we’ll retrace our steps somewhat as we head back from the Gompa. We have an easy downhill and pleasant walk through the rhododendron forest to Lama Hotel where we’ll rest for the night before continuing our journey tomorrow for the Thulo Syabru village.

Day 8 Trek to Thulo Syabru (1,900m/6,213ft), 5-6 hrs

Today our trail leads again through bamboo & rhododendron forest where we may see the local wild boar as well as other animal and bird life on the route to Thulo Syabru. En route we’ll have marvelous views of Mt Ganesh Himal, so close it seems like it’s beside us. Firstly easy downhill follows the river bank but last part steeply uphill for couple of hours to get to the village.

Day 9 Trek to Cholang Pati (3,650m/11,936ft), 6 hrs

Today trek steep ascend up to Foprang Danda (3210m) from Thulo Syabru along the Dursang with the green scenery around & beyond ranges of Manaslu, Ganesh, Tibet peaks & Langtang. We walk through Hemlock, Oak Pine & Rhododendron trees. By the way, there is another trail to get Cholang Pati from Thulo Syabru which is shorter distance than via Singgompa. After Foprang Danda trail goes normally flat till to Singgompa. It could be lunch stop, depends on your walk. Singompa , where you can see chees factory & Buddhist monastery, called Singompa. We continue our trek to Cholang pati, approximately 2 hour up Lahurebina 3920m from where we can see next morning an excellent mountains view ranges of Annapurna to Langtang, nevertheless Dhaulagiri also if weather is so fine. Overnight at guest house.

Day 10 Trek to Gosainkund (4300m/14061ft), 3 hours.

A steep rugged trail but adequately compensated by dramatic views of Himal Chuli, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and possibly Annapurna Range in the west; the beautiful valley of Langtang Lirung in the north. Passing a few huts in the high pasture of Lauribina and crossing a small ridge, have the first look of about a dozen holy lakes; Saraswotikund, Bhairavkund and Gosaikund are the main holy lakes among them. After Lunch at Gosaikunda, hike around the beautiful lakes as you wish. Stay overnight at guest house.

Day 11 Trek to Thade Pati (3,600m/11,772ft.) via Gopte Vir(3440m/11,249ft), 8 hours.

The trail leads to the northern side of Gosainkunda Lake, crosses a moraine, passing three more small lakes; you will reach Laurebina La (4610m/15,075ft). The trail descends to a National Park Post at Bhera Goth (4240m/13,865ft) and to Phedi (3740m/12,230ft). From Phedi the route drops and climbs through scrub bamboo to Dupichaur (3630m/11,870ft) and descends finally to Ghopte Vir. Continue the trek further to Thade Pati hill station along a ridge to the tree line.

Day 12 Trek from Thade Pati to Kutumsang (2468m/8,070ft.), 6 hours.

Drop steadily all day through Fir and Rhododendron forests and Prickly leafed oak forest enjoying the excellent views of the mountains, the Helambu valley and reach Kutumsang for a stay overnight.

Day 13 Trek from Kutumsang to Chisapani (2194m/7,174ft.) hill, 6:30 hours.

Trek within gentle ups and downs following a ridge to reach Chisopani hill station with an excellent views of Mount Manaslu, Mount Ganesh Himal and more than a dot of Mount Everest.

Day 14 Trek to Sundarijal Bazzar. Return to Kathmandu, 4 hours.

Climb to the small pass at Burlang Bhanjyang and take a last look at the great line of the snow peaks of the Himalaya before descending to Sundarijal Bazzar. From here we take a vehicle to return Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, you can do for shopping or visit some heritage sites of Kathmandu.

Day 15 Departure day or request to extend your holidays.

After breakfast, we drop you to the international airport for your return flight however if you have some days time, you might request us to extend your holidays.

Equipment checklist

The following listed equipment is suggested and essential for Tea house trekking and camping trekking in the Nepal Himalaya. Make sure that below list as a guideline proposal. Some of the Trekking equipment can be hired or bought in the many adventure shops in Kathmandu.

The following basic equipment checklists should help you with your packing. Please remember that you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. At the start of the trek your packed trek bag should weigh not more than 33 pounds or 15 kg.
