Responsible Travel Policy
Surrounding areas of our operations are planned with responsible tourism in mind and we believe that our clients have an important role to play as well, with each person ultimately determining the overall impact of the group in the area visited. The following are some ideas we advise you to consider:
A) Try not to damage any plants you see on the trail.
B) Wild animals should not be touched, fed or disturbed
C) Do not collect firewood; all the treks use kerosene for cooking.
D) Ask permission before you are going to use village pump or well.
E) Please burn all the rubbish and bury away from a water source (30m).
F) Our policy is to carry out all non biodegradable rubbish, if any is left behind in the morning, please bring to the guides attention.
G) Bring along environmentally friendly detergents and shampoos and use as little as possible to keep fresh water supplies free from pollution.
H) Be economical in using fresh water for showering and washing as often they are in short supply.
Consider offsetting environmental effects of international travel by contributing to Climate Care.
A) We advise you to Buy locally made crafts and support local skills to encourage the positive sides of tourism.
B) Bargaining is an accepted practice in all of the places we visit- but do so in a good humor and bear in mind the amount of money you are haggling over!
C) Think carefully about giving money to beggars, it is often more effective to give money to local charity to reduce reliance and expectation.
A) Take a permission before taking photographs and respect the local laws, customs and cultural beliefs.
b) Observe the dress code of the area and be aware of differences in social behavior and norms.
c) Do not buy ancient artifacts or souvenirs made from endangered species.
GIVING BACK TO THE SOCIETY, Gokyo Treks and Expedition Nepal is committed to sustainable tourism Policy and true sustainability of tourism in Nepal. It was a commitment formed when the company was established, and today, in the face of a multitude of threats to the environment, our commitment is stronger than ever. We aim to ensure that our destinations retain their natural character and cultural diversity for future generations of travelers. This vision can only be achieved with the support of our entire guest, Staffs and business partners.
Gokyo Treks and Expedition Nepal aims to maximize the positive benefits of tourism for host communities. This includes training and employment of local staff, using local suppliers and assisting in the development of sustainable local businesses.
We aim to minimize the negative effects of tourism by ensuring that tourism does not divert resources away from local communities or drive up prices on local resources. We provide opportunities for cultural exchange, where locals and visitors can share and learn from each other in an environment of mutual respect.
We organize Community Project in the communities to upgrade the life of the local children by providing Education, health and other needed projects and we donate 10% of our profit to conduct and run those community based projects and we welcome any donation from our client if they prefer to contribute some amount which can bring huge difference in their life, as the same time we organize some charity trek to collect the fund for them as well. And we welcome to all who are interested to participate on those projects and share the experience with Locals, you can visit our social organization page- www.cdfn.org.np for further information.
